“Beato Antonio of Amandola” Hospital of the Sibillini Mountains
The new Amandola Hospital was built to restore the essential healthcare service that had been lost following the 2016 seismic events, which compromised the stability of the former hospital and caused significant disruption for the local population.
The complex consists of five separate buildings housing the following functions: parking garage, outpatient clinics, dialysis, endoscopy, operating theatres, diagnostics, canteen, morgue, collection unit, emergency first aid department, inpatient wards, and territorial offices. The building is developed over three levels: one underground level constructed in reinforced concrete, and two above-ground levels with a steel structure, base-isolated through elastomeric seismic isolators with a lead core. For this reason, the building blocks are separated by 50 cm seismic joints that allow relative movements.
The complex features an initial floor slab made of predalles panels, while the upper slabs are composed of corrugated steel decking with composite concrete topping. External infill walls and internal partitions are executed using dry construction systems with metal substructures and plasterboard panels.
