Firefighters Headquarter
The new headquarters of the Ancona Firefighters Headquarter is located adjacent to Piazzale della Libertà in Ancona, at the intersection of Via Alessandro Bocconi and Via Martiri della Resistenza. The existing buildings housing the Regional and Provincial Fire Department headquarters were largely in a state of structural deterioration; therefore, their demolition and reconstruction were undertaken.
The structure of the new building, set on deep foundations, is entirely constructed with reinforced concrete beams, shear walls, and columns, seismically isolated at the base by elastomeric isolators that separate the underground garage level from the four above-ground floors. These upper floors accommodate offices, living quarters, dining areas, and representative spaces.
Within the courtyard, a steel training tower was also built for operational exercises.
The executive design, enhanced by the improvements proposed by Torelli Dottori, resulted in a facility with high technical, functional, and performance standards, as well as a distinctive architectural appearance marked by red elements that emphasize the building’s function.
