Structural and seismic upgrading of the “G. Mazzini” Primary School

The structural and seismic upgrading intervention of the “G. Mazzini” Primary School involved targeted works aimed at improving the building’s structural behavior through the installation of dedicated energy dissipation devices. The works, carried out by Torelli Dottori S.p.A., focused in particular on the installation of steel hysteretic dampers placed on the façades, which contribute to increasing the building’s capacity to withstand seismic actions.

The intervention also included the construction of an external steel staircase, designed to upgrade escape routes and vertical connections, as well as the preservation of large glazed surfaces that ensure high levels of natural daylight within the interior spaces. The internal areas, characterized by double-height volumes and walkways, were retained and integrated with the newly introduced structural elements, following an approach that makes the strengthening works clearly legible.
